My Papi's Hands

A heartfelt story that celebrates family, community, and the power we all carry in our own two hands. Full of hope and inspiration, it encourages children to imagine the bright future they can help create.

The Story

My papi's hands are bigger than mine. That's because they build cities—piece by piece, día tras día.
My papi's hands are more playful than mine. That's because they turn songs into sonrisas and hold me and Mamá close. Because of my papi's hands, I know what my hands can do. And together we will build a brighter future, piece by piece, día tras día.

With lyrical text and striking wood-block illustrations, this empowering tribute to Latine laborers from the perspective of a child shows how her papi's love and hard work make their community, home, and future stronger—and illustrates her vow to do the same.
